Good news from the writers room at Second Skye! The first round results for the annual NYC Midnight Screenwriting Challenge were released last night to over 1600 hopeful screenwriters, Ian and Keegan included. Second Skye went two-for-two in the first round, with both Ian’s and Keegan’s screenplays placing within the top five of their respective groups, thus qualifying both writers for the next round.
For those unfamiliar with the NYC Midnight Screenwriting Challenge, check out our original post as well as the NYC Midnight landing page, where you can find the rules for the competition and copies of our first round submissions.
Ian’s submission, By A Thread, placed third in Group 6 (Ghost Story / An Admission / A ventriloquist).
Keegan’s submission, Running Low, placed first in Group 14 (Sci-Fi / Adoption / A forest ranger).
The second round assignments will be emailed to the remaining 300 competitors on May 18, 2023 at 8:59PM PDT, and writers will have just three days to write an 8-page screenplay incorporating their newly assigned genre/subject/character. Wish us luck!
NYC Midnight was established in 2002, creating “inspiring challenges for storytellers around the world.” Their next competition, the Flash Fiction Challenge, begins June 9, 2023.
